Wonder … How do you suppose a Christian is “supposed” to act? …
Now, consider this story … Acts 16:16–34
The Christian apostles act differently than anyone can imagine. Rather than escape from prison, they stay and talk about God’s love with the jailer who comes to believe. The jailer tends to the apostles’ wounds, and they baptize him and his family. In everyday living, we can show love that liberates. There is no need for a great fuss.
Ponder this … When have you experienced the love of God in the midst of everyday living? Be on the lookout this week for more opportunities to experience God’s love!
Pray Liberating God, may we not hold silence but speak out. May we find in our throats the words of compassion and peace for those whose voices have been taken away. May we be a community that lives the story of those the world has silenced, for this is your story of justice and resurrection. Amen. |
