How do you notice the Spirit at work around you? …
Now, consider this story …
Acts 2:1-21
The people in the early church are amazed that they can understand one another. God’s spirit has enabled them to make themselves understood. Some who are watching don’t believe it and assume they are drunk. Peter points out that they cannot be – it’s too early, he says, presumably with a twinkle in his eye. The Spirit transforms us into being new people – overwhelmed with a desire to speak God’s word and to try to understand one another.
Ponder this … Is there a time when you might have been so overwhelmed by the Spirit that you did something out of the ordinary? What was that like?
This week, be on the lookout this week for the Spirit moving within and around you!
Pray
Send your Spirit, O God,
for the birthing and re-birthing of our faith.
Send your Spirit, O God,
that we may hear and speak and live anew.
Send your Spirit, O God,
for the renewal of your blessed creation.
Send your Spirit, O God,
to gather us –
and then send your Spirit, O God,
to send us forth in mission.
