Matthew 2:1-12

Welcome to Wondering Wednesday. You are encouraged to use this as personal devotion and reflection. You are encouraged to hop on the church Facebook page or Instagram page and wonder with others.

Now, before reading the scripture for this coming Sunday, you are invited to recall what you know about the Epiphany story. Do you know any details? Tell yourself the story, if you can, and then click to read it and wonder what you notice.

Scripture (click link to read):  Matthew 2:1-12

So how did you do?
Did you recall any of the details?
Did you mis-remember any of it?
As you consider this Epiphany story, wonder about the following…
Wonder what it might mean to have 2 different stories about Jesus’ birth. Wonder what it might mean to shift our thinking from kings to wise ones or magi.
Wonder what it might mean to have this story take place not at the same time as the shepherds and angels but rather a couple of years later.

Prepare us, O God,
to welcome the events and the people
that mark turning points in our lives.
Stir our imaginations
to honor the dreams
that send us in new directions.
Grant us the courage
to follow the signs
that lead to another road.
