Welcome to Wondering Wednesday. You are encouraged to use this as personal devotion and reflection. You are encouraged to hop on the church Facebook page or Instagram page and wonder with others.
“And [Jesus] said, “Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in the prophet’s hometown. ‘” (Luke 4:24)Now, before reading the complete scripture for this coming Sunday, ponder a time when you felt liked, or accepted. Also consider a time when you did not feel accepted or liked. Once you’ve wondered about this, read the scripture for this coming Sunday:  Scripture (click link to read):  Luke 4:21-30Wonder… It feels good when people speak favorably of us and appreciate things we have said or done. The crowd seems – at first – to be genuinely pleased with what Jesus has spoken to them. However, it seems that when Jesus suggests that people act rather than merely listen, they turned against him. It’s one thing to hear nice words; it can be quite another to be expected to live by them. This week, wonder around these questions:– What is a time when you have liked the idea of something if someone else were going to do it, but been less pleased with the idea for yourself?– What’s one way you might speak out for the marginalized?Pray Gracious Creator, you have known usbefore we ever knew you,and have called usyour children.Cultivate in usthe courage to speak outand live your word offaith, hope, and love.Amen.
