Consider… Jesus is baptized by John the baptizer, not the other way around as scripture tells us John would prefer. Jesus’ ministry begins by turning ideas about him and how God works upside down. In baptism, we bathe in the waters of Kin-dom understanding and truths.
This week, PLAY in some water; visit a river, lake, or the ocean, or fill a bowl or your sink at home. Touch wet fingertips to your forehead and think about how God has called you through baptism.
Pray Source of all love,
as we move through the early days of this new year,
help us to remember that we begin every journey
drenched in your love.
Our identity,
our being,
our calling begins
(and ends and begins again)
with you.
