Welcome to Wondering Wednesday. You are encouraged to use this as personal devotion and reflection. You are encouraged to hop on the church Facebook page or Instagram page and wonder with others.
“[Jesus] came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea, Jerusalem, and the coast of Tyre and Sidon;” (Luke 6:17)Now, before reading the complete scripture for this coming Sunday, imagine the world that Jesus is describing. Consider what it would look like, consider how people might engage others. Once you’ve wondered about this a while, read the complete scripture. Scripture (click link to read):Luke 6:17-26Wonder some more… This world that Jesus describes is a world of generosity, love, life, and compassion. Those are things people who are hungry, poor, and sad understand and long for. They’re ready and waiting for God’s world, or reign, to come – and tehy’ll welcome it with joy when it does. People who live in ways that make life good for themselves but hard for others don’t have much space for generostiy, love, life, and compassion. That this kind of world will come is a tough message for them to hear. No wonder Jesus says they are going to weep. This week, wonder around these questions:– In what ways are you blessed?– In what ways are you a blessing? Pray O God,nourish us in life so that we,your people, may bear the fruits of justice and peaceto our communitiesand our world.Amen.
