With Elizabeth Kluegel-Niblock , soprano Pioneer Ocean View UCC 2550 Fairfield Street San Diego, CA 92110
Friday, February 22nd from 7:00-9:00pm we will have a Pitch-In and Social. Please bring a dish to share.
Saturday, February 23rd from 10:00am-4:00pm Choir workshop. We will break for lunch. We ask that due to allergies and preferences, each person brown bag a lunch, and we will provide chips and drinks for all. Elizabeth has been a church choral conductor for 16 years and a professional soprano who has sung with the Washington National opera, St. Louis Symphony, and the Ravinia Festival among others. She has been a private voice teacher for over 20 years and her students attend prestigious schools such as Indiana University School of Music, Westminster Choir College, and Eastman School of Music. She brings her unique approach to vocal technique for church choirs to this workshop.
Elizabeth will cover topics such as: Vocal Technique-breathing, posture, tone quality, head voice, resonation, etc. using warm ups to teach the singers how to achieve these ideas. She will then show the singers how to apply those techniques in 3 mini pieces and an anthem, which will be able to be used for Ash Wednesday. We will spend part of the time in break outs for Soprano/Alto and Tenor/Bass where we focus on blending the voices using our ears, vowel modifications, breath, phrasing, and pitch. There will also be a block of time for those who like to sing solos for church can be coached if desired
This will be a wonderful time of learning and growth for singers and directors alike! Hope to see you there!
