Easter

That first Easter morning. The guards shook with fear. The angels said, “Don’t be afraid.” The women went to the tomb with great fear. We do not know what the woman saw. But we know fear. Fear about the world around us, what might be or not might be. But fear is not the end of the story. The women were also excited. They did not get frozen. The women went – and so must we – to places we’re afraid of. Lutheran pastor, the Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber wrote in her book “Pastrix”, – “The Christian faith…is really about death and resurrection…how God continues to reach into the graves we dig for ourselves and pull us out, giving us new life, both dramatic and small.” New life is often small. In order to notice the small, we cannot stay frozen in fear. We are not alone. Our God is with us. Where are we going? Jesus told the disciples, “…go and make disciples of all nations.” We are commanded to go and to love. We are sent into the world to be on the lookout for good life and to help bring new life. The good news is alive in the world—alleluia!
