Thoughtful Tuesday
Preparing for Worship
Lent 1 – March 10, 2019
Scriptures: Psalm 91:1-2, 9-16 & Luke 4:1-13

Lent has begun.
We begin with Ash Wednesday and the reminder that we are dust.
And we are reminded that it is to dust we shall return.
In this season, we prepare ourselves to journey with Jesus.
To make the journey that we know ends on the cross,
and we even know that that is not the end of the story.

This season, we are going to explore
some of the ways in which God moves.
God is on the move in our lives,
walking with us each and every step of the way.

Have you ever moved?
How many times?
It’s rare that we don’t move at least a couple of times during our life,
as it’s rare that we live in the same house as adults that we lived in as children.
In our gospel reading from Luke for this week,
we find Jesus moving out into the wilderness.
What sorts of wilderness times have we faced in our lives?

Pray:

Journey with us, O God,
through this day,
through this season.
Lead us into that land
where we know the fullness
of your justice and grace.
May we follow your leading
and draw strength from you presence.
Amen.
