Education
Educational Program
The educational program of UCUC revolves around two primary areas:
youth and adults.
Youth
Youth education involves ages three through senior high school. Teachers
are all volunteer, most being parents of students. Sunday school occupies
the same hour as the worship service. The children begin the morning
with their parents in church for about 10 minutes of service. Their
portion concludes with a Children's Chat, normally conducted by a
lay member, and then the children exit the sanctuary and go to their
classes. Children are divided into similar age groups, and classes
consist of age-appropriate materials and discussion groups.
Confirmation
Confirmation classes are held on Sunday mornings at 9:00 in the Minister's
Study. Class topics include Bible study, community service, and frequent,
lively discussions.
Adult
Adult Education opportunities are held throughout the year at varying
times. Discussion centers around a variety of themes drawing from
scripture and other spiritual books and references. Outside speakers
are sometimes invited. Call the church office for details and contact
information (858-453-3444).
Preschool Program
The UCUC Preschool offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum
for children from two-to-five years old. The school is multi-cultural,
non-religious, and enjoys a fine reputation. The school mission is
to "set the stage for children to learn new ideas, understand
new concepts, and develop an understanding of their relationship to
others." For more information about the Preschool, please call
Paula at 858-455-0336 or visit the UCUC
Preschool web site.
