Music for Winds at UCUC! Sunday, May 12, 2019 at 7 PM

A performance in our sanctuary of music by Beethoven and Mozart, written for an ensemble of 8 wind players.  Proceeds from a free-will offering at this program will benefit UCUC.   The musical selections will include Beethoven’s Octet and a transcription of music from one of Mozart’s operas.   The Beethoven Octet is a piece written early in Beethoven’s career.  The transcription of music from operas was a common practice in Vienna in Mozart’s day; such music was played at open-air concerts or in aristocratic settings for the enjoyment of everyone!  The exact opera transcription that we will play is not yet determined, but they are all enjoyable, listenable music!   Come and enjoy the program!  As one of our players said, “Sunday is Mother’s Day and [I] would very much enjoy playing with you all to make it even more special.”  Come and enjoy listening to a harmonious end to a delightful day!
